This Damage & Deposit Assessment Policy (“Policy”) forms part of the Rental Terms, Terms of Service, and related policies governing rentals facilitated through the CostumePeti Platform Network, including:
- CostumePeti
- Vault Fashion
- Vault Wedding
- Vault Luxury
This Policy governs:
- Security deposits
- Damage assessments
- Return inspections
- Restoration and replacement recovery
- Deposit deductions
- Specialized inventory damage treatment
1. Purpose
Security deposits help secure against:
- Damage
- Loss
- Extraordinary cleaning
- Late return risk
- Missing components
- Breach of rental obligations
Deposits are not rental fees and may be refunded fully or partially based on inspection outcomes.
2. Inspection Framework
Returned items may be inspected:
- At pickup
- At warehouse intake
- During QC processing
- Through photo or video evidence
- By authorized repair or cleaning specialists
- Via AI-assisted inspection systems where used
Inspection may include:
- Garment condition
- Fabric and structural review
- Accessory completeness
- Contamination review
- Alteration detection
- Packaging and component verification
Findings may be documented through:
- Photos
- Condition reports
- Repair evaluations
- Inventory logs
- System records
3. Ordinary Wear vs Chargeable Damage
Ordinary Wear (Generally No Charge)
Normal wear reasonably expected in proper rental use generally should not trigger deductions.
Examples:
- Minor wrinkles
- Light reversible wear
- Routine laundering impact
- Normal aging consistent with rental use
Chargeable Damage
May include:
- Permanent staining
- Tears, burns or structural damage
- Missing embellishments/components
- Unauthorized alterations
- Irreversible contamination
- Improper repair attempts
4. Damage Assessment Tiers
Tier 1 — Minor Recoverable Damage
Possible outcomes:
- Cleaning charge
- Minor repair recovery
Tier 2 — Major Repairable Damage
Possible outcomes:
- Repair/restoration charges
- Deposit review
Tier 3 — Replacement-Level Damage / Constructive Loss
Possible outcomes:
- Replacement value recovery
- Full deposit application
- Additional recovery where applicable
5. Cleaning & Restoration Charges
Charges may consider:
- Cleaning complexity
- Restoration costs
- Materials
- Specialist labor
- Value impact from damage
6. Replacement Value Assessment
Assessment may consider:
- Original acquisition value
- Current replacement cost
- Rarity
- Designer/custom value
- Depreciation where appropriate
7. Security Deposit Application
Deposits may be:
- Fully refunded
- Partially applied
- Fully applied
If charges exceed deposit, renter may remain responsible for additional amounts due.
8. Late Return Implications
Late returns may trigger:
- Additional rental charges
- Penalties
- Deposit implications
- Loss-event treatment for prolonged non-return

9. Missing Components
Charges may apply for missing:
- Belts
- Dupattas
- Accessories
- Multi-piece set components

10. Evidence & Disputes
Users may dispute deductions promptly after notice.

- Return inspections
- Photos/video
- Repair invoices
- Specialist evaluations
Absent clear error, determinations may stand subject to escalation.
11. Fraud / Intentional Damage
Intentional misuse may result in:
- Recovery claims
- Deposit forfeiture where permitted
- Suspension
- Additional legal remedies
12. Fair Wear Promise
We do not charge customers for ordinary wear reasonably expected in rental use.
Charges are assessed only for damage beyond normal use.
13. Policy Changes
We may revise this Policy periodically.

PRODUCTION SHOOT / PRODUCER LIABILITY RIDER
Applies to rentals used for:
- Film productions
- Television productions
- Advertising shoots
- Editorial shoots
- Fashion shoots
- Theatre productions
- Events and live productions
- Corporate productions
- Stylists, producers, production houses and their representatives
Facilitated through:

- Vault Wedding
- Vault Luxury
1. Purpose
Production-use rentals involve elevated risk including:
- Heavy handling
- Multi-user possession
- Location risk exposure
- Continuity-sensitive usage
- Transport between sets
- Specialized prop/wardrobe exposure
This Rider supplements general rental obligations.
Where conflict exists, this Rider controls for production-use rentals.
2. Production User Responsibility
Producer / production renter is responsible for:
- All rented inventory under booking
- Actions of crew, stylists, assistants, talent and subcontractors
- Proper handling and safeguarding
- Authorized use only
- Timely return
Responsibility is not limited to the individual who physically signed out inventory.
Production entity may be treated as primary responsible party.
3. Chain of Custody
Production renters are responsible for maintaining chain of custody over rented inventory during:
- Fittings
- Shoot days
- Transit between locations
- Set usage
- Storage at production facilities
Inventory may not be left unsecured or transferred without authorization.
4. Continuity & Matching Set Liability
Where wardrobe or props form part of:
- Character continuity
- Coordinated ensembles
- Matching sets
- Multi-piece production looks
Damage or loss affecting continuity may trigger specialized assessment.
Recovery may consider:
- Replacement urgency
- Continuity disruption
- Matching set impacts
- Rebuild or sourcing complexity
5. Production Use Restrictions
Unless expressly authorized, inventory may not be used in:
- Hazard scenes
- Stunt sequences
- Pyrotechnic scenes
- Water exposure
- Mud, paint, blood effects or destructive scenes
- Animal scenes involving elevated damage risk
Special-risk usage may require prior approval and additional conditions.
6. Alterations for Styling or Production
Unless explicitly approved:
No cutting, tailoring, distressing, pinning modifications, adhesive application or styling alterations that affect condition are permitted.
Unauthorized alterations may be treated as damage or constructive loss.
7. Props & Set Asset Liability
For rented props or set assets, production renter assumes responsibility for:
- Handling by crew
- Set placement risks
- Damage during staging or transport
- Unauthorized prop modification
Damage may be assessed under applicable prop damage schedules.
8. Multi-Location Use
If inventory moves across multiple locations, producer assumes responsibility for increased transit and custody risk.
Additional controls may be required.
9. Shoot Delays / Overruns
Production overruns do not automatically extend rental periods.
Additional shoot days may require:
- Extension approval
- Additional rental charges
- Availability confirmation
Inventory reserved for subsequent bookings may create heightened consequences for unapproved delays.
10. Weather / Outdoor Exposure
Production renter assumes risk associated with unauthorized exposure to:
- Rain
- Extreme heat
- Dust/sand
- Marine environments
- Outdoor environmental hazards
Damage arising may be chargeable.
11. Wear from Production Use
Ordinary wear in approved production use may be treated under Fair Wear principles.
However, elevated wear caused by intensive production use may be assessed differently than ordinary consumer rentals.
12. Loss, Theft and Set Misplacement
Producer is responsible for inventory lost or misplaced during:
- Shoot operations
- Set transitions
- Transport
- Talent/crew handling
Loss may trigger replacement recovery.
13. Deposits & Additional Security
Production rentals may require:
- Enhanced deposits
- Authorization holds
- COIs or insurance evidence (if requested)
- Additional guarantees for high-value rentals
Higher-risk productions may be subject to additional conditions.
14. Insurance (Recommended / May Be Required)
For certain productions we may require or recommend:
- Production insurance
- Wardrobe coverage
- Prop coverage
- Certificate of insurance naming platform or owner where required
Absence of insurance does not limit liability.
15. Damage Reporting Duty
Production renter must promptly report:
- Damage incidents
- Loss events
- Continuity-impact incidents
- Contamination events
Failure to report may affect claims review.
16. Evidence and Documentation
Assessment may rely on:
- Condition records
- Set/shoot documentation
- Photos/video
- Production logs
- Repair assessments
- Inventory continuity records
17. Producer Indemnity
Production renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Platform and applicable owners from claims arising from:
- Production misuse
- Crew conduct
- Unauthorized use
- Damage caused during production activities
Subject to applicable law.
18. Special Recovery Categories
In addition to ordinary rental recovery, assessments may consider:
- Continuity disruption costs
- Rush replacement sourcing
- Specialist rebuild costs
- Production-critical loss exposure
Where permitted by law.
19. High-Risk Productions
We may decline or impose special conditions for rentals involving:
- Action/stunt productions
- Hazardous productions
- Destructive scenes
- High-loss-risk shoots
Approval may be discretionary.
20. Platform Rights
We may:
- Require enhanced deposits
- Restrict inventory access
- Suspend production rental privileges
- Enforce recovery rights
- Require pre-approval for certain productions
21. Limitation of Liability
We are not liable for:
- Production delays
- Shoot losses
- Continuity consequences
- Commercial production losses
- Talent or crew disruptions arising from inventory issues except as required by law

This Rider supplements:
- Terms of Service
- Rental Terms
- Damage & Deposit Assessment Policy
- Schedules A, B and C
For production-use rentals, this Rider governs where inconsistent.
